Exceptional Clarity

Clarity, detail and sharpness are the key features of Seek lenses. Seek technology goes beyond shielding your eyes from harmful UV rays and glare to expose and intensify the world’s true colors. Our lenses are built and tested to exceed conventional optical clarity standards, specifically: 

  • The Metyometer Test measures the clarity and optical distinctness of an object when viewed through the lenses.

  • The Optical Distortion Test measures the level of image distortion in order to identify any distortion error within the lens.

  • The Prism Test measures the light bending power of the lenses to determine whether the lens is correctly centered.

Impact Resistance

Seek Optics lenses are lightweight yet extraordinarily strong. Our lenses meet and exceed the ANSI Z87.1 & Z80.3, EN 1836:2005 & all FDA impact resistance standards. Of course, all lenses produced by Seeks Optics greatly surpass the FDA mandatory drop ball test – FDA standard 21 CFR 801.410 for lens impact resistance.

REVO Mirror Coating

Seek REVO Mirror coating differs from other type of mirror coatings because the color is much more vibrant and strong. Our REVO mirror coating, besides giving your sunglass lenses color, brilliance, and style, also protect your eyes from harmful sun rays. The REVO reflective mirror changes color dramatically depending on light and angle. REVO mirrored lenses provide an sharp look that will make any frame stand out!

Seek REVO Mirror is a color mirror layer made of insulated materials, which was initially invented to reflect the sun's rays off satellites. A layer of approx 4 nanometers is applied in an even layer on the surface of the lens. The result is a one-way mirror that completely shields your eyes from excessive direct heat and from harmful UV rays. Mirror coating optimizes the available light in your environment to enhance the clarity of your vision and in the meantime conceal the wearer's eye for maximum privacy.

Exclusive Seek Optics Hard Coating

Each lens is finished with a specialty coating exclusive to Seek Optics. No other seller on the market provides a stronger HC Anti-Scratch Hard Coat to protect your lenses and give them extra durability to extend the life of your sunglasses. Our Hard Coating not only defends your lenses from scratches, it also protects any mirror coatings on your particular lenses. Although optical lenses can never be 100% scratch-proof, our coatings help to prevent minor scratches that can easily happen to a regular lens.

Anti-Scratch Coat

Along with our exclusive hard coat, Seek Optics also adds an additional scratch-resistant coating. Anti-Scratch coating is applied to the face of your optical lens. The coating does not does not affect vision or disrupt lens function; instead, it creates a strong attachment to the lens to reduce the appearance of hairline scratches which is common optical lenses. Anti-scratch coatings are never 100% scratch-proof; however, they help to prevent minor scratches that inevitable occur to a regular lens. These hairline scratches damage the face of the lens and impair vision. An anti-scratch coating acts as a protective layer thus making the lenses more durable.

UV Protection

All Seek lenses and designer sunglasses block 100% of UVA, UVB and UVC rays. The American Optometric Association (AOA) advises that extended exposure to the sun's UV rays without the correct protection may cause eye conditions that can lead to severe vision disorders. Exposure to UV radiation can harm the eyes and other components of solar radiation can also affect vision.

People whose work, or recreational activities, involve prolonged exposure to sunlight are at the greatest risk. UV radiation reflects off surfaces such as snow, water and sand, so the risk is greater for people on beaches, boats or ski slopes. The intensity of UV rays is the highest during the mid-day hours, 10 am - 3 pm, and during the summer.

The hazard of UV rays

It is common knowledge that UV radiation harms the skin, but many people may not know that exposure to UV radiation can damage the eyes or that other components of solar radiation can also affect vision.

If your eyes are exposed to excessive amounts of UV radiation over a short period of time, you are likely to experience an effect called photokeratitis. Like a “sunburn of the eye”, photokeratitis may be painful and include symptoms such as red eyes, a foreign body sensation or gritty feeling in the eyes, extreme sensitivity to light and excessive tearing. Fortunately, this is usually temporary and rarely causes permanent damage to the eyes.

Long-term exposure to UV radiation, however, can be more serious. Scientific studies and research have shown that exposure to small amounts of UV radiation over a period of many years increases the chance of developing a cataract and may cause damage to the retina, a nerve-rich lining of the eye that is used for seeing. Additionally, chronic exposure to shorter wavelength visible light (i.e. blue and violet light) may also be harmful to the retina.

The longer the eyes are exposed to solar radiation, the greater the risk of developing later in life such conditions as cataracts or macular degeneration.

Since it is not clear how much exposure to solar radiation will cause damage, the American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends wearing quality sunglasses that offer UV protection.
