Check Your Frame
The product data on your sunglasses can tell you the model and size of your frame, as well as other information. The frame size consists of three measurements, always shown in millimeters (mm): lens width, bridge size, and temple length. When purchasing replacement lenses we are only interested in the measurement of the lens width.
Many brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley, or Persol will often use the same model name or number but will offer several different sizes. Here are some examples:
Ray-Ban Original Wayfarers’ will all start with RB2140 but comes in 3 sizes: 47mm, 50mm, or 54mm. The Oakley Gascan comes in 3 versions also: Standard, S, or Asian Fit.
Take a Picture!
Send us pictures of your frame to sales@seekoptics.com and we will be happy to verify your sunglass model.
Even if a frame is the same size or shape, the fitment may differ depending on the brand or model. That is why is it so important to know exactly the frame name, model number, and lens size before you make your order.
Z87 Safety Glasses
You may have noticed “Z87” written on your sunglass temple. This is common practice for sport and safety eyewear but regular sunglasses usually will not have these markings.
Z87 is the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard for impact resistance. Eyewear that is compliant with the ANSI Z87 testing is certified safety eyewear and provides the necessary protection from impact hazards.
Seek Optics custom lenses exceed ANSI Z87.1 safety ratings; however, we are unable to add this rating to our products since the lenses must be tested in the frame in order to be certified. Please note that lens replacement will void the safety rating of your sunglasses.
